I crocheted this scarf for my flower-loving mother-in-law for her birthday/Mother's Day celebrations (they coincide), and continued the lavender theme with some lavender yummies from L'Occitane. (A note on the colour, though. Top picture is taken without flash, bottom picture is taken with flash, and NEITHER pic approximates the proper colour of the thing! Stupid bloody camera.)

Flowers worked in pure Australian wool, and border in some kind of fluffy stuff from my stash. Experienced crocheters will see this is nothing more and nothing less than a MAM strip! I love using MAM strips for scarves - they make really original pieces.

This is absolutely gorgeous! I love the idea! How long did it take to complete?
Very pretty! I know what you mean about trying to get the right color approximation. Tough work. It looks pretty with and w/o the flash :D

Not long at all. I did the centre one night, and the edging the next day. Four hours, I reckon, five tops.

Glad you like it!

Hey thanks!

Love your quote, by the way.

Well, you have inspired to make a floral scarf too! By the way, what does MAM stand for?
Mile-a-minute. I have a couple of Mile-a-minute afghan books from Leisure Arts, and most of the strips are original and gorgeous. Just about any strip would make a brilliant scarf.

Aha! I have heard of those, but have never tackeled a project that big (I may even have a book, but havn't done anything with it yet). I just found some patterns I liked for flowers and started a scarf that way, but someday I will have to give Mam a try. Thanks for the idea!
